Truth is Stranger Than Fiction.

After my yesterday’s blog on My role as an Architect and other things;

I received a DM on my LinkedIn although the name and face looked familiar but I wasn’t able to recall it immediately;

With quick pleasantries exchanges; “It” said me one thing which really flabbergasted me in it’s own words and I quote;

“Definitely, only reason i continued with *** interview process was to work and learn with you”

This is something was never told to me in this way by someone whom I only interacted for 45 minutes during interview process and this also calls for a debate how we conduct and should conduct technical interviews;

But this is a topic of discussion for another day.

Now we moved on with our conversation where “it” said one more thing which made me even more perplexed;

And I quote without edits;

“If you don’t mind, can you be my mentor pleaseee 😇”

Now leaving this conversation here and coming back to my yesterday’s post;

When I talked about the “Compensation” yesterday of an Architect; or for that matter anyone; actually looks for something more important than monetary benefits alone;

And for me it is;

Trust, A bit of occasional appreciation to the team I belong, True Help and sense of belongingness to the larger cause.

In a word “Empathy”.

I completely understand and even partially concur that In many’s opinions; Technology is probably bottom of pyramid to solving a business problem and there are much more important things to be done and worked out.

Although I understand the inherent limitations of Technology to be a Business solution by itself but I don’t agree that it’s bottom of the pyramid and Architect’s are easily replaceable entity to meeting Business Goals.

In that sense each and every one is replaceable and worlds moves on without an iota of disruption to a larger goal.

And it’s not limited to software world alone we can see that happening in every walk of like be it politics, businesses , Entertainment industry and even religion is not sacrosanct.

There are many offshoot to main religions and it goes on flourishing on its own under new pathfinders and their unique thought processes and people follow to the path if they see light and purpose in it.

Now coming back to my DM conversation;

The conversation didn’t end here; “It” further went ahead and “It” shared the problems “it” was solving and asked for my suggestions;

And I realised that the problems which “It” was solving was IMO was a single problem and not multiple; and I advised “it” so;

But what’s more interesting that I realised we are solving the same problem where answers are not known to both of us.

So we exchanged numbers and agreed to collaborate and solve this problem together without needing to work on same project at the same place at the same time.

It’s an Architectural problem and has a singular pattern and solution and probably solution already exists so we agreed to find them together.

In conclusion to my series of post this week I it’s getting reinforced (like a reinforcement learning I experienced in my MTech course) at least in my mind;

And nothing better summarises my thoughts than the poetic verses by renowned lyricist (Late) Majrooh Sultanpuri.

मैं अकेला ही चला था जानिब-ए-मंज़िल मगर

लोग साथ आते गये और कारवां बनता गया.

“I had walked alone, Janib-e-Manzil, but people kept coming along and the caravan kept on forming.”

Excuse me for bad translation (Google Translation needs improvement, Hope NLP guys are reading this post :) )

Happy Sankranti & Happy Lohri to my Punjabi Friends!!

And as usual would recommend this and listen to it with noise cancelling earphone.
